Techno Thursday: Blog Readers

I never bothered using a blog reader because I only read a handful of blogs so I didn’t see the point. I have since seen thereader.jpg reader.jpgreader.jpgreader.jpgreader.jpgerror of my ways.

I signed up for Bloglines during the Thanksgiving weekend and now I wish I had done so a long time ago. It is uber convenient to have all my favorite blogs lined up in one place ready for me to check out. It lets you know at a glance which blogs have new material and when you click on the one you want, it gives you a summary of any and all new posts. You can than choose to click on the blog to continue reading or move on.

Using bloglines saves me time and extra clicking. I am also able to follow blogs I didn’t before because I didn’t want to take the time to go to their websites, even if they were already in my favorites.

The most popular blog readers are Bloglines and Google Reader. I’m sure if you do a search you can do others. I use Bloglines because it is used by others I trust and very user friendly. And, as you would expect, it is f*ee to sign up and use.

If you read any amount of blogs, and don’t already use a blog reader, give it a try. You will find it extremely useful.

For those of you who already use a blog reader, I’d love to know which one you use and why.
