Take Time to “Be”
It’s time to tell on my self. In spite of the fact that I’m in the process of writing a blog series on time management (you can find it here, here and here), I’ve been feeling somewhat overwhelmed.
Last Tuesday my husband and I officially put our house up for sale* and in between client work, blogging, taking care of my family and other obligations, we (my wonderful friend/client Anne and I) have been scrapping, painting, cleaning and getting ready to move. On top of this is the stress of trying to find a suitable place in a good area closer to my husband’s job and keeping the house spotless for potential buyers.
What has overwhelmed me the most is the thought of all the things I need to do in a short amount of time. So, yesterday, I took time to just “be.” I didn’t do anything at all except rest, clip my coupons (love my coupons!), play with my son and take time to pray and reflect. My temperament requires solitude and reflection, and until yesterday, I didn’t honor that need.
What a difference taking that time has made already! I feel so much better and much less stressed. I still have all those things to do; but, I have a much better perspective about it. I feel back in control and hopefully I won’t get back caught up in “sweating the small stuff.”
I encourage you, no matter how busy or overwhelmed you are, take some time this week for yourself. Honor your needs and everything will fall into place.
