Techno Thursday: Do You (Microsoft®) Groove?

What is the one business tool you couldn’t live without (besides Microsoft® Office – that’s a given)? There was a discussion about this recently in the AssistU community and the different responses were interesting.

I wasn’t surprised about the “winner” at all, though. Even before Microsoft® bought Groove, it was highly praised and raved about. And, although it has lost some of its functionality when Microsoft® took it over, it is still the best software going.

So what exactly is Microsoft® Groove? It is collaboration software that allows people to work effectively together no matter their location. Here’s what it says on the Microsoft® website:

“Office Groove 2007 is a collaboration software program that helps teams work together dynamically and effectively, even if team members work for different organizations, work remotely, or work offline. Working in Groove workspaces saves time, increases productivity, and strengthens the quality of team deliverables. Office Groove 2007 is just one example of how the 2007 Microsoft Office system helps teams and organizations collaborate more effectively.”

Once you download the software (a bargain at $79), all you have to do is invite someone (or several someones) to your workspace. This allows all invited parties to have access to all the files, chats, etc. (Okay, it isn’t THAT simple, but trust me, it’s really easy. :) )

If you are looking for a better way to collaborate with your clients, vendors, or anyone else for that matter, but not sure if Groove is right for you, you can test drive the software by downloading the 60 day free trial. So, go ahead, give it a try and let me know what you think.
