The Simple Joys of Life

girlwithflower.jpgWe had a wonderful time at the Science Center on Friday. If you are ever in the Pittsburgh area, I recommend you check it out.

The first thing we did was launch our snowballs into the the Ohio River from the submarine and then had a tour of it. I’ve never been in a real submarine before - it is tight! I don’t know how anyone could live and work in one. I’m glad I took the tour but wouldn’t want to do it again.

During the course of the day we saw a couple of shows, interacted with the the displays and had a really great time together. It was fun connecting with Aimee again.

The best part was watching my son. To see the world through the eyes of a child is a beautiful thing. His excitement and joy was infectious. He was so curious and full of wonder about everything! He went from display to display like a butterfly, soaking it all in.

After the museum, we took a tour of Aimee’s new house and then she treated us to lunch at Mineo’s Pizza. She told us it was REALLY good and voted the best Pizza in Pittsburgh several years in a row. I had my doubts - everyone knows the best pizza comes from New York City. :) Well, the pizza was delicious and I can see why it was voted the best pizza in Pittsburgh.

Finally we finished the day in the Robinson Township Shopping Center and ate supper at the Cracker Barrel before heading home - exhausted but happy.

As I was settling down to sleep, I was filled with gratitude for the fabulous day I had. It was a privilege to share the day with my son and two really great friends. Family, friends and fun, what could be better?
