Voicemail Greetings that Make an Impact

headshot of young blonde woman with moble phoneI confess. I’ve never given my voicemail greeting a second thought. Sure, I “personalized” my message with the standard greeting: “Hi, this is Carol, I can’t come to the phone right now…” but that was it.

It hadn’t occured to me that a truly personalized greeting could make much of an impact – until I read this post on Phil Gerbyshak’s blog this morning.

His voicemail message far outshines the “normal” standard greeting by a mile and proves that having a unique voicemail greeting can be a small, yet effective, way of standing out from the crowd.

I love the pointers he offers for making a great voicemail greeting.  Phil even offers his phone number and asks his readers to call and give feedback on his message! Very brave if you ask me!

(No, I haven’t called it. I’m too shy. I’m a big fan of Phil, so what if he actually answers the phone?! GASP! I’d have to actually talk to him!! I’d probably be too star-struck to say anything and make a fool of myself. Yes, silly, I know. LOL)

  • I’m glad this resonated with you Carol. I think voicemail greeting is a powerful way to set you apart from your peers. I look forward to hearing you change yours :)

And you should call me sometime. I would LOVE to talk to you. What would we say? Start with Hello, and we’d take it from there!

  • Thanks for your comment, Phil! Your kind words put me at ease. I’ll try and give you a call early next week – if only to check out your voicemail. :-)
