My Blog’s Name Blog Carnival

Ramblings By Reba is hosting a blog carnival because she is curious about how people came up with their blog’s name.  This is a great idea, I love discovering the back-story behind’s people’s decisions to name their blog, business, etc.

I wish I could say that I had an interesting story behind my blog’s name, but I don’t. :) Divine Virtual Assistance is the name of my business, and I didn’t want to use another name for my blog, so I kept my business and blog names the same.

To make it even less exciting, I don’t have an exciting story behind my business name, either. :-) One evening during the Virtual Training Program I was taking through AssistU to become a Virtual Assistant, I was talking to my fellow classmate, Sandra Trca-Black.  She mentioned using the name “Divine” for a previous business (can’t remember now what business!). I really liked it and asked her if I could take over the name and she said sure.

The reason I like the name is two-fold. First, in a very non-business fashion, the name reminds me of my faith and my desire to serve God. Second, it reminds me that I want to strive for excellence in all I do and offer outstanding service to my clients. (Hence the tagline: “Totally Devoted to Your Success!”) The name just fits in with my life’s mission.

Like I said, it’s not very exiting, but it does have meaning behind it for me.

My blog name post is here

  • Thanks for sharing the story of your blog name. :)

  • And a fabulous name it is! :-)

“Divine Intervention” was the name of my previous office support business (mobile office assistant). My tagline was “Just what you need, just when you need it” which is the way that I believe Providence works in our lives. It transferred nicely to what I did for small businesses.

And I was so happy when it spurred an idea for your business name!

I always smile when I see your business name. Not everything needs to be exciting in life (we’d miss the beauty of quiet moments), but I always love meaning. Thanks for sharing!

  • I’m so glad you chimed in, Sandra! Thanks for the kind words.

I love the concept behind your business, too. AlloyVA is a fantastic business name. :)

  • Thanks for posting your story!

  • Thanks SO much for participating and for the Tweets about it. :) You have a good name for a blog and for a business. I hope your business is going well.

BTW, you mistyped your blog name in the Mister Linky. (You had a comma somewhere you should have had a period.) I’ll redo the link. Being farther down the list shouldn’t make a big difference in the number of traffic you’ll get, as there are only six participants at the moment. :)

    Thanks again!

  • Thank you, Heather, for reading it! :)

  • Thanks Rebecca, for your kind words and hosting the blog carnival. :)

Oddly, whatever the mis-spelling was, it didn’t affect the traffic at all. :) I had quite a few people check the post out.

  • So many believe their blog names are uninspired, or not creative. I count myself into this group. However, I think it is only our personal feelings on the subject. Our blogs are part of us, and reflect who we are…even when we are trying to be someone else. LOL, maybe this doesn’t make much sense, but I find your two fold reasoning for using ‘divine’ inspired. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks for your kind words, Kontan! And yes, what you wrote does make sense. :)
